Alienware is overrated
Posted by dumbwhore on July 25th, 2003 filed in Uncategorized30 minute wait times. System was never fully tested before it was shipped. Took 6 weeks to build the system instead of the promised 2. And the tech’s are at about the same level as Gateway’s support. They’re outsourcing some of the call internationally to India which sometimes makes it difficult to understand them. Even when they are speaking clearly they may have dangerous presumptions:
“If there was a memory error then the computer would never pass POST.”
And they also sell an extended warranty for “24 hour service” 24 hour service was defined to me today…We ship the part to the on-site people via ground transport(5 business days), then when the on-site guys get time they call and make an appointment to show up and do the work. Since Alienware is billed $75/hour from their on-site techs they are encouraged to try and talk clients into doing the work themselves.
Why am I griping? Because I’ve got bad memory but they won’t send it to me unless I give them a credit card. I gave them 5k for two computers and they’re quibbling over 156 buckarinos? Pretty silly if you ask me. My other option is to ship it to them, wait two weeks, then get new chips shipped back to me. Remember my original gripe? 2 week quote turned into 6 weeks? I’m not eager to work on my backup system for 6 weeks. Anyhow.
